Phase 1 Medical Camp – NP GP

We covered Nandelpada and Guravpada for medical check up in this visit. This was the third attempt to do medical camp in Nandelpada. This being difficult school to reach, it almost is disconnected during the monsoon.
We were privileged to have Mr Latesh Shah (Founder Chairman World Human Development Center – WHDC) with us during the visit. He spent lot of time with the kids at Kaspada and Guravpada. Latesh Sir – a renowned motivational speaker – mesmerized his young audience by talking with them in their own language and making them completely open up. He tailored his message to suit to tribal kids and made a great connection with them.

Mumbai – Suvarna Prashan – Aug 2019

Suvarna Prashan Sanskar is one of the 16 essential rituals described in ancient Ayurveda for children. In this process Suvarna bhasma (purified ash of gold) is administered with fortified ghee prepared with herbal extracts, and honey in liquid or semisolid form to children of age group of 0-12 yrs. This is administered in Pushya Nakshatra- an auspicious day- which happens to come after every 27 days, given on this day it bestows excellent benefits.

Phase 1 Medical Camp – KG, KP, TP and KLP

We had our next leg of medical camps on 25th August covering 4 schools. First leg was held at Khandeghar, wherein we examined 55 kids. Interestingly, the kids, who had left the school last year, too were present to volunteer and support the teachers. While most of the kids followed very good hygiene, typical rainy season related challenges viz skin problems, fever, stomach-ache were found in a few kids.

New School Support – Maan Ashram Shala

New School Support – Maan Ashram Shala

Maan Ashram Shala at Vikramgadh has been in existence for last five decades. It has 625 students till class 10th. Kids get three meals a day including Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. While they do get support in terms of the clothes, stationery, infrastructure etc, they don’t have regular medical support and hence Suhrid Foundation decided to support this school for health.

Tree Plantation Drive – KP, KMP

We planted more than 100 saplings in the vicinity (along the dam and close to the fields). We should be able to see Neem, Jamun, Moringa, Mango etc over a period of two years. The kids from Kaspada schools did the entire hard work. We distributed saplings and seeds at Khomarpada school as well. Teacher in this school is promoting growing of vegetables along with the conventional rice in Khomparpada village. The support from Hariyali (Mulund based group) was commendable in this initiative – they provided with plants and seeds.

Khandeghar School and Kaspada Dam Visit

As a part of the transfer process, both the teachers from Khandeghar were transferred to different village. We were lucky that the incoming teachers were associated with Suhrid foundation already. Hence, we did not have restart the complete process. We would be working on creating office/ storage space at the school since they have to manage with two cramped rooms, wherein most of the items are completely exposed.

Kalampada – New School Inclusion

Kalampada – New School Inclusion

This was our first visit to Kalampada with purpose of inclusion in the Suhrid Foundation supported school. In the visit, we met with teachers, reviewed school and its status and identify possible work we may have to carry out in this school. Kalampada is a very small village in the north east of Vikramgadh with a population of around 300. Though there is support to the village/school from some other organization, the infrastructure is not upto the mark. The kitchen is non-functional. Bore-well was non-functional. Since the main teacher in this school had worked at Talyachapada, which is a part of Suhrid foundation supported schools, it would be possible for us to make desired changes in the school.
