Suhrid Foundation does health-check of each kid from each of its school twice a year. Because of these camps, each kid has medical history of 4-5 years (depending upon number of years kids remain in our schools before being promoted to secondary schools). In this medical camp, kid is checked for general health and is prescribed (and given) medicines free of cost. The cost of each such camp covering 10 schools is close to Rs 25,000.
In addition to these six-monthly camp in our ten schools, we also support two Ashram Shalas (residential schools) covering close to 600 kids. Approximate expense of the check-up of these residential schools is also around Rs 30,000. These schools have very connected and educated staff taking care of kids. We provide over-the-counter medicines (which does not require any medical prescription) extra for the rest of the period because routine illness such as cough, cold, fever, bruises and burns etc are normal and requires medicines. These medicines come handy to these hostel matron staff and avoids medical visits and emergencies.
