Food essentials support in Covid-19 times

While it has been a lock-down for almost two months now, some of the tribals from our work area in Vikramgad (Palghar district) have not been able to go out to earn their livelihood. Typically, post Oct/Nov month (after their rice harvest), and until May end, these people work outside and earn for their needs (other than yearly stock of rice)…i.e. clothes, kids related expenses, preparation for next season of farming etc.
This period, because of the lock-down, is difficult for them. They are short on basic spices, pulses, oil, sugar and soaps etc and no money to buy!
As some of you may know, in first week of May, we started an activity of distributing part of their daily needs in three villages. We plan to do that for rest of the 9-10 villages we are connected with. Each such packet is estimated to cost around Rs 400 including cooking oil, pulses, jaggery, spices, potato, onion.
