Darshana Pardhi has completed her education up to the fourth grade in the tribal region of Vikramgad. Since her marriage to Devram Pardhi, she has been dedicated to helping her family on the farm and managing household responsibilities. She always dreamt of earning her own income to support her family and improve their quality of life. Additionally, she plans to empower other girls and women in her community.

Darshana’s story reflects a broader narrative shared by many tribal women in the area. Their educational opportunities are limited, and as family sizes grow, their farms are becoming smaller, necessitating the exploration of alternative livelihood options.

Our CSR partner, Vastu Housing Finance, joined us in our initiative to empower women of Janathepada. We established an Art Center unit where Darshana and other local women can come together to produce various handicrafts that they can sell in local markets or beyond, with support from our team. We helped create a workspace next to her home and provided essential tools such as a sewing machine and storage, enabling them to make items like bags, petticoats, and bamboo crafts. This initiative aims to develop skills among women in the community while generating income.

We wish Darshana all the best in her endeavors and extend our gratitude to Vastu Housing Finance on behalf of all the women in the community.
