The start of the academic session was quite different than the earlier ones. Quite a few teachers from our schools had completed 10 years at the same school. Hence, they had to accept the transfer at different school. A few of schools were badly impacted since all the sirs were transferred. The objective of the current visit was to visit Kalampada (new school) and meet the teachers to kick off the academic session.
Kalampada is a very small village in the north east of Vikramgadh with a population of around 300. Though there is support to the village/school from some other organization, the infrastructure is not upto the mark. The kitchen is non-functional. Bore-well was non-functional. Since the main teacher in this school had worked at Talyachapada, which is a part of Suhrid foundation supported schools, it would be possible for us to make desired changes in the school.
Post visit to this school, we had a common meeting with teachers to kick-off new academic year. During this common meeting, we shared the complete journey of Suhrid foundation with the new teachers, spelled out the expectations and explained the processes. we also defined mentors for new teachers to guide them through Suhrid Foundation common programs. We would be taking up a few infrastructure projects on the immediate basis apart from the conventional education and health related programs.
Out of the ten supported schools, eight schools have classes up to 5th standard and rest of the two had classes up to 4th. After this, the kids have to move to different schools and our teachers lose control on them. As an experiment, we would be moving a set of ten kids to Arvind Ashram Shala at Dadade, wherein they would be given additional tuition to ensure that their standards are maintained. Going ahead, we want to acquire some land to create our own school with the primary health care center. We already have started taking steps in that direction.
