As a part of our school visits to review the progress, Team Suhrid visited Khandeghar and Guravpada.
Khandeghar is one of the two schools, which we included this year. Khandeghar school is a small school with 44 students. Though they are new to Suhrid foundation, the progress is quite significant. They have aligned completely with our deworming and Nutrition project. Kids showed good progress in Phonics. Kids demonstrated their skills in songs and play. Though it was our second visit to the school, the self-esteem and confidence of the kids was very high. They love the food and have increased appetite now. Areas, which need slight improvement, are the cleanliness and a bit on personal hygiene. SF seniors conducted a very small session on simple pranayams such as Aum-chanting and Bhramari for the little kids.
Guravapada school is one of the oldest. We had taken this school in our wing exactly a year back. This is the second largest school from our list with 117 students. Implementation of SUN and deworming was quite evident. We also did inspection of the proposed fencing, which school needs to build a garden. If approved, the school would plan to grow some vegetables as well which can be helpful with SUN project.
We had our common meeting at Vikramgad. Apart from distributing the medicines, worked out the complete strategy for the proposed camps in next 4 weeks. Kaspada and Janathepada schools have started using the vegetables, grown in their compound. We need to explore the possibility of repeating this across the schools taking into account the theft of vegetables during the off hours.
