Guravpada Camp and Khandeghar Toilet Block Opening

We have been working towards the betterment of the school infrastructure on regular basis. We had already enabled sanitation system – i.e. electric motor driven facility to fetch water, overhead tank, wash basin – which allowed flowing water for various purpose. In case of Khandeghar, the school infrastructure was not in good shape. They did get grant only to make a compound wall without any functional gate. Suhrid foundation sponsored two initiatives at Khandeghar this year. Since the school was built on old model, they barely had two rooms, which were used as classroom along with usage like office and storage area. It was difficult to maintain cleanliness and hygiene because of that. We sponsored building up one room between the two classrooms, wherein teachers can use that as office, keep official records and also use as storage for grains, medicines and other items.
This school also had almost non-functional washroom. It is part of the essential facility. When we want to promote the cleanliness and hygiene, we need to provide the means as well. Hence, we got sponsor to create a brand new washroom to meet the demands.
We had started our second set of medical camps from February. We visited Guravpada and conducted medical camp for 100 kids. Most of the kids were in reasonably good health. We were also accompanied by guests this time. They also interacted with kids, made them laugh, taught them few things, shared goodies and also listened to their stories and songs. Effectively, a wonderful day spent with kids – along with their half yearly medical checkup.
