We had our last set of camps of 28th March, 2015 wherein we examined around 315 kids form four schools. First half, the camp was held at Guravpada for Guravpada and Janathepada schools.  While in second half Palavpada and Palavpada Anantpur were handled at Palavpada Anantpur. The health camps were followed by the eye checkup as we did in the previous camp.

We did observe significant improvement in most of the aspects viz nutrition, health and general hygiene. However, lack of oral hygiene turned out to be a major cause of concerns. Kids – who are under good care either from the parents or teachers – did show improvement. However, majority had major problems with their teeth. These problems work against the de-worming exercise, which we have been carrying out. Oral Hygiene would be one of the key driving factors going ahead.

It is important to have specific mention about our oldest school Janathepada. We started working with school in Oct 2012. Based on the success at this school, we were encouraged to take other schools in this area. We got exceptional support from not only the teachers but the old students as well. Though, we conduct the camps for the kids who are currently in the school, the kids from 2012-13 and 2013-14 also attend all our camps and follow the instructions. Many of them walk for 3 to 4 kms now to go to different schools. We provided caps for each of them to ensure that they remain protected from direct exposure to Sun. We intend to support them further by providing them bicycles.

Similar to last camp, kids enjoyed with crafts, balloons and tattoos. Check our Picture Gallery!
