We have been working with overall community in our villages – for their health and also water related projects (such as check dam last year). This year, we had convinced them further to enhance their livelihood by taking additional crop or additional activity which increases their regular income. While they are not yet comfortable taking other crop in the same field, they were convinced to use some spare space in their farms to plant mango trees which can yield them additional income 3-4 years down the line.
We arranged to get 150 mango saplings from Valsad (by our associate NGO friends from Dharampur). We provided mango sapling to Kaspada villagers at nominal charge (we do not believe in giving anything for free). The experts from Dharampur (Shri Santubhai) also came to Kaspada and demonstrated how the plantation to be done and how the plant is to be taken care of going ahead. Enthusiasm and response from village was overwhelming. We would execute more such projects in subsequent years when the word spreads among other villagers and villages where Suhrid Foundation is working. We thank Santubhai and Vanpath Trust for their guidance.
