Suhrid Foundation had conducted camp for all the 511 children currently supported in Oct 2013. Some of the children were identified in the camp were to be taken for further diagnosis or investigation in Mumbai or other locations.

As a follow-up to that, Suhrid Foundation made arranged of travel for some of these children along with their parents, supported by three teachers, to Kandivali where appointments of respective specialists such as skin, ENT, paediatric were taken in advance. Suhrid Foundation also made arrangement of breakfast and lunch for all the people traveled along with these children.

Total of 5 children were brought to Mumbai for their further check-up/investigation from earlier identification of problem in camps. Out of total five, 4 were for ENT check up – which was planned to be done by Dr Bharat Jobanputra at Kandivali (W). Following is their brief medical summary and finding.

  • Kunal Kachra from Bahirampada was diagnosed for both ear drum perforation. He was sent for audiometry test by Dr Rashmi. He responded well to the tests. Doctor prescribed antibiotics and anti allergic orally as he has allergic rhinitis and ear infection. As per doctor, with medicine the perforation will be healed and he can once again undergo audiometry after few months. And then he will decide if the patient needs hearing aid or not. Follow up will be after 15 days.
  • Prahlad Khanjode from Guravpada was diagnosed asthmatic in our medical camp. Dr Jobanputra investigated his case and found that his heartbeats are abnormally high and was referred him to a paediatrician. Prahlad was taken to note paediatrician in the region, Dr Nita Jhagad at Kandivali (W). She gave him medicines for his immediate cold and cough and called him for follow up after 15 days.
  • Mayuri Mere from Bahirampada. She was diagnosed with mild retardation in the camp. We wanted to verify that her retardation is linked with deafness/dumbness or pure retardation. In audiometry, because of her poor responses, she only responded to loud sounds – she needs to be given occupational therapy for her retardation.
  • Jagruti Kanoja from Janathepada was identified for dumbness in the camp. She was checked by Dr Jobanputra. However due to congested ear canal (with wax), she was given medicine to clean-up ear canal and was asked to come back after 15 days for audiometry.

The remaining candidate: Archana Khale from Guravpada was diagnosed with fungal infection of the skin in the camp. She was checked by Dr Deepa Kanchankoti, a skin specialist in Kandivali (E). She was given oral medication as well as local application by Dr Deepa at no cost.

We thank all the doctors for their whole-hearted support – giving their time from busy schedule and supporting Suhrid Foundation cause. Dr Jobanputra also additionally gifted Dr Lipsa/ Suhrid Foundation with audio-scope for preliminary investigations in subsequent camps to be conducted in tribal area. We appreciate the gesture.

The next follow-up is scheduled on 15th Feb 2014 for some of these children with few additional new patients.
